London Marathon 2017 · 23 April 2017 ·
Thank you very much to everyone who has chosen to support me in this big challenge, and in doing so supporting the incredible academic Institute of Cancer Research.
My (and my younger sister's) father passed away from cancer in May 2013. This is why it means a great deal to me to be able to run for the ICR specifically. The research carried out there is incredibly important, having been for example, the first institute to identify that cancer is caused by genes.
Our father applied to the first ever London marathon himself- all those years ago- but sadly was not able to run it due to an injury whilst training. We often talked of completing one together in the years to come before he became ill, but there was not time.
So... this is going to be for him. And for my sister and me to raise more money to help try and defeat the disease that we lost our daddy to... for our mummy who had to say goodbye to the father of her daughters. For those people who have lost the battle to cancer, and those relatives and friends who have been and will always be in so much pain. And, for those individuals who may be saved either tomorrow or in seven years, as a result of the research by the ICR. We need to keep on funding the world-changing work that this institute undertakes every day.
Please contribute whatever you can to try and help the ICR understand, detect, prevent and manage cancer.
