Story
What have we done!
The Wight Challenge a team of three event run in aid of a different chosen charity each year. 44 teams racing...18miles off road cycling, three miles canoeing (all together in the same canoe...can you hear those banjos?) with an 8mile run to finish. Each section timed the clock stopping once the whole team has crossed the line, the total time the three sections added together.
Marcus suggested to Piers that it might be a good idea to enter, after an exhaustive search to find a third member, lots of excuses from our light-weight friends we had completely overlooked "Sport Girl" Sally, who was right infront of us in our shared office!
The above photo is at the begining of the first practice day...we looked a lot worse at the end of it! After completing most of the challenge that day we realised that we had underestimated what we had singed up for...CHALLENGE was the word we had not paid enough attention to!! Not only is there the physical side to the challenge we have so far had to contend with 3 punctures and one snapped chain in our two practices!
The cause is worthy the undertaking significant we would all be grateful of all and any support!

Wow all we can say is FANTASTIC everyone!! We initially thought £1000 would be a good sum to raise, this came and went easily, we are now through £1500 and would love to get over £2000.
Tuesday this week saw us all at the local Watersports facility at Woodmill in Southampton. Canoeing / sit on kyacking, the one component on the triathlon which we hadnt practised, also the part which requires real team work! All we can say is a big thank you to Mike our trainer on the day.
There we were thinking it would just be a gentle paddle down the river and a rest after the bike ride before the run...WRONG!! As a result of our training we now know which craft we are opting for, Mike helping us to get to grips with working together as a team in the boat and giving us invaluable nuggets!
Race day tomorrow....weather looking iffy lots of nervous energy Marcus was up this morning at 430am going through things in his head??!! I was up at 6am...doing the same!! Bring it on...early start tomorrow 6.45am ferry from Lymington!
We did it! We only went and did it. Sat the 19th race day...wow what a scorcher...lovely.... but not the best for 3hr and 47mins of intensive excersise. 3hrs and 47mins. 1hr45mins of frantic peddling, 36mins of frantic paddling, 1hr26mins of plodding! Out of 44 teams where did we place...8th!! WOOOO HOOOOO 8th. We have yet to confirm it but we beleive Sally was the first girl home! As a team we worked really well together!
None of us suffered with too much pain and as a result of our efforts we reckon we are close to the £2k for Wessex heartbeat. If you havent yet sponsered us you still have time!
