Story
I am running the 2016 London Marathon to raise money for The Children's Society, with the aim of raising £2000 to help run projects for vulnerable children who have nowhere left to turn.
I have been fortunate enough over the past 10 years to work with children from many backgrounds. I have seen first hand the rewards that come with improving the lives of children through lifestyle and physical activity. This year this passion of working with children is being realised as I begin my primary teacher training. My philosophy is that children should all have an equal chance in life regardless of their background or circumstances. Training for the London Marathon will be tough, however this is nothing on those children who grow up dealing with hardship, neglect and abuse on a regular basis. Money raised goes directly towards local projects nationwide for children who are vulnerable and simply have nowhere positive left to turn.
I'm not a real runner so this is going to be one heck of a challenge for me. Most people train for 18 weeks for the London Marathon. I've doubled this to 36 weeks as I want to do my best for those children who deserve better. I shall be running on average 30 miles per week (this equates to 4 hours spent per week running and a total of 1000+ miles run in training).
As part of my training I'm also running the following events: Leicester Half Marathon (25th October), Wolf Run (10km obstacle run), Further Half Marathons and runs to be confirmed.
I hope that you will support me on this challenge by donating to The Children's Society. All messages of support and donations will be gratefully received.
Thank you in advance
