Story

Please find a video regarding the Apprentice Ship Cup in the gallery below

We are six pre-apprentices at The University of Liverpool and we all have the opportunity to participate in this year's 2015 Apprentice Ship Cup leaving Liverpool on the 8th June. The event will be the biggest sail training activity in the UK in 2015; the event is endorsed by ASTO (Association Sail Training Organisation) and Sail Training International who manage all tall ships in the world.

We will be taking part in one leg of the voyage, either travelling from Liverpool to Dublin 8th-12th June, participating in the Mersey International River Festival from 5th-7th June; Dublin to Glasgow 15th-19th June, participating in the Dublin River Festival from 12th-14th June; or Glasgow to Liverpool 22nd-26th June, participating in the Clyde River Festival 19th-21st June.

At the heart of this event, is the development of young people and therefore we are interested in participating in this voyage as we all believe it will improve our self-confidence, team work, problem solving, interpersonal skills and organisation skills. The skills we hope to learn on this event and the fundraising tasks we undertake will develop us both personally and as a team, they will also be beneficial in our pre apprenticeship training and our personal life.

However, the participation in this experience comes at a price. To make up the cost we are going to be undertaking numerous fundraising activities. for example car washing, a coffee & cake morning, supermarket bag packing, volunteering our services etc. and we would be extremely grateful of any donations or sponsorship you would be willing to give.

Thank you again in helping us to take part in what we believe will be a life changing opportunity.
