Story

Dearest friends and family,

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

After doing the London Marathon in 2011, as some of you know, I ruptured my anterior cruciate ligament and needed major knee surgery. I was not allowed to run for most of the year and it was a tough time for me post surgery. Now, after 15 months I have taken on the challenge of running again.

This time I am pushing myself again by not doing one but two runs. I will be running the Washington DC half marathon first in March followed by the London Marathon in April.

It is a challenge, but it is definitely something that I believe is important. I have committed to the cause and as one of my heroes Haile Gebreselassie (long distance Ethiopian runner) said:-

'Once you have commitment, you need the discipline and hard work to get you there'. And I have started the hard work...running in the cold and the dark.

It is my second time running the marathon but it still feels daunting, but as Haile has aptly put it, 'When you run the marathon, you run against the distance, not against the other runners and not against the time.'

So I ask you all to help me run against this distance and support my cause.

The cause is the same...why? Because I believe in the work that Chinmaya Mission (CM) does. CM has been a major part of my life and it has made a difference in the way I live my life.

CM is a global organization involved in diverse activities: from institutes that train teachers, to series of workshops and camps and social service projects (including schools, hospitals, rural development and retirement homes). With over 300 centres worldwide, it is dedicated to teaching individuals from any background enabling them to become positive and productive members of society.

Please dig deep and support my cause :)

Thanks,

Priya
