BUPA Great North Run 2008 · 5 October 2008 ·
As many of you will already know my Dad, Tony Prince, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease earlier this year and sadly he passed away peacefully on the 13th September 2008.
Before his diagnosis I obtained a place in this year's Great North Run through the ballot system. Two very special friends of mine, Roni and Julia, are now also running this half-marathon with me on 5th October and together we have decided to run for the MND Association.
Yes, we know we are mad to be running this far but with "Coach Roni" training us and the support we get from the wonderful group of girls we run with, AKA "The Laras", we hope that we can achieve our target and get round the 13.1 miles before sunset and without too much assistance from the Paramedic Teams!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: the Motor Neurone Disease Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Thank you in advance for your support.

A "poym" by Keith Pilling........
Preparation is key when you run in a race
Regardless of length, competition or pace
A black canine’s an essential aid to the trainin’
Cos they’ll pull you along when it’s muddy and rainin’
Through bracken and nettles and places cold, dank
With top speed achieved along canal bank
Panting and drooling breath clouds like a fog
That’s Rachel’s appearance, I don’t mean the dog
Wet, splattered and shattered calves aching and sore
That’s the time it’s important to give a bit more
So Roni, and Julia, two-thirds of the trio
Gain stamina, fitness and charge up with brio
The day will arrive when you’re in the North Run
Crowds shouting and waving and cheering you on
When lungs have collapsed and your heart might explode
Think Dad, MND funds and the end of the road.
