Jurassic Coast Challenge 2018 · 21 July 2018 to 22 July 2018 ·

We are Solace. For over 50 years, we have been helping women and children build safe, resilient lives. Each year, our life-saving services support around 20,000 women and girls. We need your support to reach even more. Stand with us to end violence and abuse now.

Story

In London, the police receive a 999 call relating to domestic violence every 30 seconds. In the UK, 28% of women have experienced domestic abuse, 2 women per week are murdered by a partner or ex-partner and 85,000 women are raped in England and Wales every year.

Solace is a small charity that provides support to women and children in London who are at risk, are experiencing or have experienced sexual and domestic violence. By providing support groups, counselling, refuge and more, Solace is able to provide service users with the tools to rebuild confidence and begin the process of healing and recovery from trauma. 92% of women felt safer and more confident after accessing their services.

To raise awareness of the life-changing work Solace does, we will be taking part in the Jurassic Coast Challenge on the 21st-22nd July 2018. We will be trekking on average 12-15 hours a day to reach the 100km target, with the aim to raise £850

We are doing this walk together as friends, but also as women in solidarity with the courageous women who seek help, to support the work Solace does and make a stand against violence.

Your support and any donation, no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated to help continue the vital work of Solace.

With many thanks, love and walking boots at the ready,

"I am so grateful for the help I received from Solace, from the moment I called their helpline through to the counselling they offered me. I got in touch with Solace after many years of struggling with my trauma I thought I had dealt with. My depression was getting worse and flashbacks more frequent, and I realised I needed professional help. My therapist at Solace helped me face and understand what happened, the help I received has been life-changing. I feel different, more confident and hopeful about my future and relationships. I can't stress enough how important the work of Solace is."
