Rachel's head shave and Georgia's big chop

Cutting/shaving our hair · 12 December 2020
On boxing day 2019 we made the decision to take our 3 year old daughter, Frances, to a&e as we suddenly became incredibly concerned about a lump in her abdomen. Within 12 hours we were given the heartbreaking news that she had cancer.
Within a week she had undergone numerous tests, scans and a surgery and started chemotherapy. I remember being sat in that room with the consultant and him telling us that she would start to lose her hair around 3 weeks later and I remember trying to work out how I was going to explain all this to her. How was I going to explain to my 3 year-old that suddenly that hair that she'd just become so aware of was going to all fall out and not be back for a considerable time??
Luckily I had heard of The Little Princess Trust and the fantastic work they do so I got in touch. They quickly got back to me, discussed what kind of wig Frances would like and within a couple of weeks we had been to have a fitting and then received a beautiful wig that gave Frances the hair she so desperately craved.
It may not seem like much but it has made the treatment process smoother for her and helped her feel just like all other little girls. She calls it her Elsa hair 😊.
And so I wanted to give something back, which is why I've chosen to shave my head to donate as much hair as possible in the hope it will bring some comfort to another child, just like Frances.
What is absolutely amazing is that when I told Frances' dance teacher, Georgia, about my donation she offered to have her hair cut shorter with me to donate and join the fundraiser. How incredible! Georgia has beautiful and very long hair so for her to donate it to show support for Frances and do what she can for the charity just shows what an amazing person she is♥️
So on the 12th December we will be braving the chop together and will have hopefully raised enough money to cover the cost of making a wig. We have chosen this date as it will be the first Saturday after Frances' last round of chemotherapy, hopefully for good!
Please support us by sparing anything you can to this absolutely amazing charity, they do incredible work providing wigs for children that lose their hair due to cancer treatment but also fund vital research into childhood cancers.
Thank you for reading our story and for any donation you can make, it makes such a huge difference and I am eternally grateful ♥️♥️
