The Royal Association For Disability And Rehabilitation- Sponsored Run/Walk/Wheel · 28 February 2009 ·

Radar - The Royal Association for Disability Rights, is Britain’s largest disability rights campaigning network, with a membership of 800 organisations and individual campaigners. We are a pan-disability organisation led by people with lived experience of disability or health conditions.

Story

Welcome to the RADAR Fundraising Page!

On 28th February 2009 RADAR staff and volunteers will be taking part in a 7 kilometer sponsored run/walk/wheel through Richmond Park.

Money raised will be devoted to campaigning to end disability poverty. This is one of RADAR's top 3 objectives.

Too many people living with ill-health, injury or disability live in poverty and in fear of not having enough money to cover basic needs like keeping warm or having enough to eat or new shoes for the kids. The root causes are many: educational and labour market exclusion and discrimination, a benefits system that does not give people enough security and practical barriers to participation are but some.

Ending the deprivation and exclusion so many people face is not just about social justice; it's vital for our economy. To get out of recession we need to harnes the skills and talents of everyone in the community and we need everyone to be able to participate.

To run a really effective and concerted campaign to end disability poverty will take money. By sponsoring us, or by taking part in the RADAR sponsored run/walk/wheel you will help us to provide disabled people and their organisations with the resources they need to take part and lead the way.

You'll help us deliver the high quality, accessible communications, evidence, campaign resources and co-ordinated lobbying we need to make change happen.
