Rainbow Trust Children's Charity supports families who have a child with a serious or life-threatening illness. Rainbow Trust pairs each family with an expert Family Support Worker who enables them to make the most of time together, giving them practical and emotional support.

Story

What are we doing?

Five members of the team at Waterstones Stratford upon Avon are taking part in a sponsored Skydive on August 8 at Hinton Airfield in Brackley near Banbury.  Sara  Griffiths, Josie Richardson, Leigh Smith, Josephine Ayers, Grace Lawson and Paul Aspley are quaking in their boots at the thought of the 13,000 foot jump but excited to be raising money for charity.

Who are we raising money for?

We are raising money for Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity who provides practical and emotional support to families when their child has a life threatening or terminal illness.
Their support lasts from diagnosis throughout treatment, to bereavement or recovery and beyond. Immediate help is on hand through eight teams of Family Support Workers operating from bases across the country. Rainbow Trust's Family Support Workers join the family in their own home and are there to provide whatever practical support is needed. They may attend hospital appointments with parents, sit by the bedside of the sick child to give parents a break and take worried siblings out for the day.

The money you donate to the Rainbow Trust will be spent where it is most needed; here are some examples of how you will make a difference:

  • £18 creates an arts and craft session
  • £20 pays for a sick child and their family to attend a hospital appointment
  • £150 pays for a day trip for a worried and lonely sibling
  • £540 covers one month’s running costs of our 24 hour telephone helpline
  • £800 pays for 44 hours of care from a Family Support Worker

Waterstones Stratford upon Avon are aiming to raise a massive £2400 so please donate if you can!
