Great North Swim 2016 · 10 June 2016 to 12 June 2016 ·

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

People who know my mum know what a charismatic beautiful lady she was/is.

She was 67 when I started noticing certain changes.  One day I came home to the neighbours saying to me Rax can I have a word with you.

"Your mum keeps taking our flower heads from our garden and she is putting just the heads of the flowers in your garden,"  as fuuny as this sounds this was the first "ODD" behaviour I noticed.

From that point I knew something was wrong as little things like this started to get worse.  I took her to the memory clinic she was 67 and after several tests and examinations she got diagnosed with ALZEIHMERS AND VACSULAR DEMENTIA.  The illness effected my mum rapidly she couldn't make a cup of tea and she went double incontinent.

A few years on now she in comfortable in a nursing home but she has no idea who I am nor she she know her own name.

The illness just comes from no where before you know it boom its there and it takes the mind of your loved ones.

I love my mum unconditionally and I feel I want to raise money for this fabulous charity as it can take you at anytime and at any age.

Please help me raise some money so more research can be taken out to find a cure for this aweful illness.

Just one last thing when my dad was dieing with cancer he said he would rather have what he had than what my mum had as it absolutely broke his heart that he couldn't look after his wife.

Rax x
