Story
Hi Friends!
Thank you for visiting my page. Almost all of us know someone who has been personally affected by cancer. It is a terrible disease that devestates families, and it can be especially upsetting when it strikes a child. A few months ago my closest friends were given the terrible news that their son has a brain tumour. Many of you will empathise with the feeling of disbelief and not knowing what you can say or do that will help.
But rather than sitting back and accepting that cancer is just part of life, I have decided to take action and support the work of CLIC-Sargent, an excellent charity dedicated for caring for families with children diagnosed with cancer. Like my friends, 10 families every day are given the terrible news that their child has cancer. CLIC-Sargent work with these families, providing emotional and financial support, physical care, and practical advice, caring for survivors and supporting the bereaved. They also carry out research to develop treatments. They need our help to reduce the numbers of families who suffer with the tragedy of cancer.
On 25th April I will be running the London Marathon! This will be a huge challenge for me; at the moment I can only manage a couple of miles before I have to stop! Training to endure over 26 miles will demand an enormous ammount of time, effort and dedication. But it will be worth it, knowing that we will be helping families and even saving lives. This year CLIC-Sargent is the official London Marathon charity, so I will be in good company as I run. It would be lovely if you wanted to come and support me somewhere en-route (even better have a Mars bar ready for me!) The atmosphere on the day is amazing. And of course if you felt you wanted to contribute to CLIC-Sargent it would really motivate and encourage my training.
I am really pleased that my Mum, and John my boss will be running too! I hope I will be able to keep up!
And as if that wasn't enough of a challenge, later in 2010 I will be heading to Borneo, where I will be climbing Mount Kinabalu... which is 4,095 metres high! So I hope you can see I am serious about supporting CLIC- Sergant. Please help by giving as much as you can.
