Many of you will know that I was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2008. At the end of my treatment my lovely Mum died. My friend Marian Derham went to BCC's fashion show in October 2008 and rang me the following day to tell me how impressed she was by the event and that she wanted to see me up on the catwalk the following year! Wow, what a challenge...but boy, do I love a challenge. 

So, here I am. I was fortunate to have been chosen by BCC for this year's show at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, London W1. My mum, Betty Smithers, was a fashion lecturer and historian who had a passion for fashion, colour and style. She was also a fantastic mum. I am modelling in her memory, knowing that she would have been so proud of me and I know that she would have approved of the fund-raising being done in this way for a very good cause.
