Story

ARTICLE 25: REBUILDING HAITI APPEAL

Article 25 is working with Outreach International, an American NGO who have supported a network of 90 schools across Haiti for over 30 years, and local Haitian partner ODSM (Organisation for the Social Development of the Masses).  In the earthquake 30 of ODSM’s schools were damaged or destroyed and in need of construction expertise.  In a 3 year reconstruction programme, Article 25 will be coordinating the demolition, site mobilisation and construction of these schools from safe design through to completion.  In the process, we will be training local communities to maintain the new buildings, and improve building skills.

In addition, the Ministry of Education in Haiti has asked Article 25 to work alongside their technical team to oversee schools reconstruction across the country, including revising current standard designs to be earthquake resistant.  In this role, Article 25 will provide training on siting and planning to ensure that all post-earthquake schools are built seismically safe.  Although their need for our services is required immediately required, there is no funding available to support this life-saving technical work.  You can help make school buildings safe for Haiti by giving generously here.
