Story
I entered the ballot on a bit of a whim and my good (or bad?) luck won me a place in the London Marathon. I found out that I’d got a place in October 2013, at which point I was running 5k once a month, if that. I’m not really a runner.
What I was doing was a lot of cycling - last year I cycled around 5000 miles, in several different countries. I like bikes. I like cycling. But not everyone gets to experience the fun, freedom and great exercise that cycling brings. Wheels for Wellbeing is a charity supporting people of all ages in south London to enjoy the benefits of cycling, regardless of any physical or mental barriers they may experience.
Why should you sponsor me?
1. This is a fantastic cause – if you can spare some change to help people discover the joy of cycling, I would be extremely grateful!
2. I’m not really a runner. In 2009 I had my femur surgically broken then pinned back together with six-inch metal pins. I only wish this made me bionic...
3. My training has been quite eventful – since I started training in October I have been hit by a bus while on my bike, been pulled out of a 10k race by the St John’s Ambulance for being too unwell, sprained my ankle cross country running and sprained my shoulder snowboarding. I won’t even mention the state my feet are in.
Thank you so much in advance, and do come and cheer me on on the 13th April!
