Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Yep, we're at it again! This time Dumball 2016 is a bit different to the past trips, it's in INDIA!  We fly to Khatmandu, have 24 hours to decorate an Indian taxi and then drive via some of the most dodgy roads in the world, up the Himalayas, past the Taj Mahal and eventually, hopefully we'll make it to GOA.. Please sponsor me, Simon and Alper and make this epic journey one that helps teenagers fight cancer.  7 Teenagers a day are given the news they have cancer and TCT support them every step of the way, Adam was a real fan of TCT and they made a huge difference to his journey.  see some of his thoughts here at www.adamhorn.com, please dig deep and know that whilst we're risking our lives, not to mention looking like idiots in some, yet to be determined, fancy dress, you can be giving real help to young people that need it.

      HI PARKER PEOPLE.

Its great that Parkers have decided to support the Dumball this year, Lady Horn and I have some real competitoin going on, so I hope you can help me!

This year I have decided, somewhat rashly to once again be talked into doing Dumball by Adam's mates.. this time dressed as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!  (I've seen the costume and it's not pretty :-( )

If you want to see what my motivation is then take a few minutes to watch this video of the boy on Brighton beach..

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mLNRaxGn-A

or see the one on the blog at www.adamhorn.com

Adam fought harder than anyone should have to to keep hold of the thing that most of us take for granted, his life!

During his battle with the Leukaemia that claimed his life he enjoyed spending time with the guys from TCT and he would be pleased to know that I am still supporting them and raising funds for their fantastic charity.. so, the deal is as always, you dip into your pockets and i'll dig deep into my energy reserves and do the training and running..

I know there is a credit crunch and that there are many other worthwhile drains on everyones dosh at the moment but if you can spare the time and hte cash to make a donation then there may be more kids like Adam who get to benefit from the specialist units and facilities that TCT provide.

On May 23rd 2014 we will be leaving Brighton in convoy, driving a banger to Morocco. The car cant cost more than £400,  and it has got to get us 3000 miles,  pretty 'tall order'.

We are doing this to help teenagers with cancer, every penny raised will help teenagers in need.

I know we are all a little skint at the moment, but even the smallest donation will be most appreciated.

In loving memory of Adam Horn & Stephen Sutton.

      Hello everyone!

From May 23rd 2014 to June 1st 2014 I will be in a team driving a £400 banger, over 3000 miles to Africa, stopping in Fes, Marrakech and the saharan desert.

Four of us will be driving this exquisite 1994 Nissan Largo for over 10 days across Europe, what could possibly go wrong?

We’re doing this for Teenage Cancer Trust, a charity devoted to improving the lives of teenagers and young adults with cancer.

There's two evils in this world we can all agree to hate: zombies and cancer.

The good news is, there's something you can do about both of them.

Zombies are slow and stupid, it doesn't take much to put them out of action: removing the head or destroying the brain is all it takes to send the undead back where they belong.

Cancer, on the other hand, is a coward. It hides away in secret, waiting to strike at any moment - and when it does appear, there's not enough we can do to send it packing.

In a couple of weeks, the Death Refusal Correction Squad are embarking on a dual mission: to cut our way through the zombie hordes from Brighton, through France and Spain, until we rouch our ultimate goal in Morocco, and along the way do our best to eliminate the evil cancerous scourge.

However, we can't do it without your help. Although we're well equipped to take on the walking dead, we need your assistance to help us fight that other plague.

The money's not for us, though. Every donation you make goes to the Teenage Cancer Trust, an amazing charity that focuses on the needs of teenagers and young adults with cancer, leukaemia, Hodgkin’s and related diseases by providing specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals.

If you hate cancer as much as you hate zombies, then please donate to the Death Refusal Correction Service.

      SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

THE DUMBALL VENTURE IN AID OF TEENAGE CANCER TRUST ARE GRATEFUL  TO RECEIVE DONATIONS IN MEMORY of

      BETTY WEST 13.9.28 to 28.5.14

I have just learned the very sad news that whilst we were fundraising deep in the Sahara a very close friend of my family, Betty West, has died. I have known this remarkable lady since I was born. Like so many, Betty succumbed to cancer and though she was 85 she maintained her lifelong interest in young people and supported several charities concerned with their welfare, both on a personal level and in her role as Mayoress during her late husband, Douglas West's term of office as  Mayor of Stockport. Her two daughters Angela and Linda know that Betty, as a past donor, strongly approved of the special cause of the Teenage Cancer Trust and would have been delighted to know that she was instrumental in furthering their aims. With this in mind Angela, herself strongly linked with this devastating disease through her work as a Consultant Histopathologist, and Linda, inextricably linked with the welfare of young people in her role as Head of a large primary school with a special needs unit, are asking that donations in Betty's memory should please be made to the trust through this page.

The Teenage Cancer Trust are extremely grateful for this generous gesture and wish to pass on their condolences to the family and friends of the late Betty West.

      Hi Everyone!

Once again, from May 23rd 2014 to June 1st 2014, we are driving a banger - a £400 car, more than 3000 miles, from Brighton to Morocco in North Africa and then journeying into the Sahara Desert.

Every donation you make goes to Teenage Cancer Trust, helping to save young people's lives and supporting them through the horrors of Cancer.

I would REALLY appreciate a donation of any amount you can afford. We will be providing updates on our journey as we progress!

      What is the Dumball

The Dumball is an idea spawned seven years ago inspired by the work of Teenage Cancer Trust. Every 2 years epic journeys are undertaken by a convoy of elderly cars each carrying a team of enthusiastic young people who have worked very hard to make their cars fit to withstand the long drive. They elaborately decorate and theme their cars and themselves and  have a whale of a time along the way whilst pledging evermore challenging sponsorship targets!

It seems to work, so far the Dumball venture has been able to donate £250,000 to Teenage Cancer Trust mostly comprising a large number of small donations. Please donate whatever you can afford. EVERY donation counts.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

      This is their story:

Around seven young people aged between 13 and 24 are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK. They need expert treatment and support from the moment they hear the word ‘cancer.’ We’re the only charity dedicated to making this happen.

      • We bring young people together so they can be treated together, by teenage cancer experts, in the best place for them.
      • We educate young people about cancer and work with health professionals to develop their knowledge so we can improve the speed and quality of diagnosis.
      • And by funding research and working with our partners in the NHS, government and organisations both nationally and internationally, we strive to improve survival rates.

We lead the world in the care of young people with cancer. Together with these young people, their families and the passion of our supporters, we’re challenging the NHS and transforming lives.

THIS TIME ITS TO THE SAHARA!!!!

Once again a bunch of oddly dressed, motivated individuals will join together to drive some old bangers miles across many countries to raise funds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

This year, to satisfy the cravings of the younger members of our team (Which is all of them!) we're pimping our car to be the van from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

Adam Horn loved this series in the 80's so it's fitting that we should be honouring not just him but the pizza loving turtles.. we'll be doing all the crazy stuff, getting dressed up, embarassing ourselves in public and generallly not helping the English abroad reputation. this time ALL THE WAY TO AFRICA!!!! including a hazardous drive into the Sahara... Help keep us moving by donating whatever you can here and know that while we are off having a difficult time... you can feel good about helping Teenagers with Cancer in the UK

This is a plea for help in any way you can! After years of watching Colin take part in the Dumball every year in honour of his wonderful son the late great Adam Horn. I'm finally getting to do it myself along with a team of people I've hardly ever met!  (I got talked into this over a few vinos as usually I'm not keen on groups of unorganised people, lack of sleep or long drives,) I want to raise as much money and awareness as possible for Teenage Cancer Trust, also next year just to 'up the anti' im going to do two marathons in one week, Brighton and London in April. We now have to find a car for less than £400, pimp it up, drive a couple of thousand miles in it and find our way to the Sahara, we will need lots of support so please dig deep and sponsor us!

Please watch Adams video on this page to understand why this is so vital and maybe visit #mce_temp_url# or www.adamhorn.com  and  #mce_temp_url# www.dumball.org too!   Thanks for reading this far and for any donation you may make.

Let's join up for a 3 Peaks challenge she said... Ok. I said not really realising what it involved, then as the date got nearer I learned that its actuallly 3 steep hills TWICE!     A dash to Snowdon, climb as fast as possible, then drive to Scarfell and repeat in the middle fo the night, then drive to Scotland to climb Ben Nevis. Have a cuppa then turn round and climb Ben Nevis again, drive to Scarfell and climb it again then drive back to Snowdon and repeat!      Its been organised by a friend of a friend to raise funds for Anthony Nolan who arranged Adams bone marrow donor for his transplant when he was first ill. If he was still here he'd love to be doing this, I just know that he'll be chuckling up there as we make our bones ache!  you can do the easy thing and laugh at our stupidity and just press a few buttons to donate to this worthwhile cause.. so dont be shy, it only takes a moment and if you gift aid the Government adds a bit too! KERCHINNG as the boy used to say!

I've rashly decided to run not just the Brighton Marathon but also the Edinburgh Marathon less than 7 weeks after (would have added London but my daughter decided to get married that weekend!)

Adam Horn bravely fought his disease for 7 years before leaving for his party in the sky, if you havent heard his story before or, if you'd like to see just how inspirational and brave he was, then take a few minutes to watch this video    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nqDVnLM1U0    or visit www.adamhorn.com

Teenage Cancer Trust provide, equip and run specialist units for teenagers and young adults within NHS hospitals, they receive no government funding and are the only charity soley dedicated to improving the lives of teenagers and young adults suffering with this awful disease, every penny helps and you can sit back and relax after donating knowing that you are doing some good, whilst I do the running and make my legs really, really sore!

Come on guys, this will be one of my last marathons, (btw its my 19th & 20th) I can't keep running on these legs foreve!, So pleease dig deep for the last time, as I want to find a new challenge....

Ok peeps, here we go again. But this time... I'm dressing for the occasion!

As you all know, I support TCT because they really helped my cousin Adam when he was ill, and the work they do continues to mean so much for teenagers and their families dealing with the dreaded C.

Last year I ran Paris and the money you guys helped me raise went directly towards the Royal Marsden's Teenage Cancer Unit. That unit is now open, check it out: http://www.teenagecancertrust.org/what-we-do/specialist-services/units/the-royal-marsden-hospital/

      Pretty cool huh?

So this year, to make it a little more interesting, I shall be running the Brighton Marathon dressed as Cheetara from the Thundercats. She was my childhood heroine, and she's pretty speedy, so I'm hoping she'll help me finish in UNDER 4hours 30mins, which is my target.

So if you'd like to see me cross the line in my orange leotard, come and watch on the 15th April. Sure it'll be a sight!

But even if you can't make it, please please give what you can so TCT can continue to help teenagers through their marathon battle. 26.2 miles is nothing compared to that.

      Much love

      Becca aka 'Cheetara' grrrrrrr ;-)
