    Marathon In A Month

Our fundraising pages 34

  • Laura-Brummitt

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Over the month of January I will be running at least 26.2 miles and as many more as I can manage to complete the Marathon In A Month challenge, raising funds for the charity Tommy’s. Tommy’s fund vital research into miscarriage, still birth and premature birth. I will be running in memory of Dylan Benjamin Seabrook who’s mummy has organised the marathon that I am joining and Elliott Luke Portus who’s family are close friends of mine, baby Elliott also first inspired me to complete this challenge in 2017. Also in my thoughts will be every other baby that is lost too soon. I’ll be pushing myself hard to raise as much as I can for this fantastic charity.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

We have been fortunate enough in our life to not have had to experience the wonderful support and work of Tommy's. We have 5 beautifully frustrating annoying kids and have never experienced the pain of baby loss or a miscarriage.

However, we have felt and seen the impact of baby loss and miscarriages in our close friends, and the ongoing battle and struggle this creates on a daily basis. We don't pretend to know what it's like, but we know our hearts break when we see it. We've also been inspired by Bryony's ongoing passion to fundraise, raise awareness and challenge social norms so that people can speak up about their experiences.

So we're going to run 100 Miles of events in 2020 to raise money and awareness for Tommy's, supporting the research they undertake so that people don't have to go through what our friends have gone through and to honour the inspirational Dylan Benjamin Seabrook. As an FYI Strava tells us that Chris ran 53 Miles in the whole of 2019... so the challenge has been set (For him at least)!!

We kick off the challenge with London Landmarks Half Marathon on the 29th March 2020. From there we have events lined up with a number of half marathons and 10k races throughout 2020... so a lot more running than 53 miles in 2020 is required...

We want to make a significant impact so our fundraising target is high  and hopefully people can see the challenege for us is significant so please please donate and help us smash it.

We'll be updating this page with races we have entered and the results. We'll also blog about the training and races throughout the year so please stay engaged and see how we're getting on.

Lets help Tommy's save babies lives and honour the inspiration that is Dylan Benjamin Seabrook

In February, I will be running a half marathon for Tommy's, the baby charity. I am raising money in memory of baby Dylan Seabrook who was born sleeping in 2012. Bryony and Ben have been campaigning and fundraising ever since and have raised over £24k, I want to help them raise even more.

I have been running for about two years and have never run further than a 10k so this is a massive challenge for me.

I am running/walking a marathon - 26.2 miles throughout the month of January to raise money for Tommy's the baby charity. Too many babies are lost too soon or in pregnancy and my fundraising will help Tommy's to do their incredible work, researching pregnancy and infant loss and supporting parents.

I raise money in memory of baby Dylan Seabrook who was born sleeping in 2012, but also for each baby I know who has been lost, for all my friends who have suffered miscarriages and multiple miscarriages as well as the pai  of infant loss and stillbirth.

I would be grateful for any sponsorship that you might be able to offer.

Throughout January I will be running the length of a marathon,26.2 Miles, for Tommy’s the baby charity. I only started running in August and I’m certainly not a natural runner but I will complete this challenge in the odd mile here and there or in 5k chunks.

This charity tirelessly works and campaigns to end and make the subject of baby loss no longer taboo. Having gone through our third loss this year I hope by completing this challenge and raising money for tommys that other couples can avoid the awful trauma of miscarriage.

And by donating to tommys means the free phone lines can remain open to the incredibly helpful midwives on the other end of the line.

Bryony Seabrook and her husband sadly lost their firstborn Dylan back in 2012. Ever since they have been campaigning and fundraising for Tommy's the baby charity which carries out research into miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth, and provide pregnancy health information to parents.

I am taking part in the Run Your Own Marathon to help support Tommy's in achieving their vision that every parent can have the best possible pregnancy outcomes and to take home happy, healthy babies and for them to continue to provide support to those families that have sadly experienced loss.

Having experienced miscarriage myself, I know the heartbreak this causes and yet it is experienced by 1 in 4 Mums! So I am doing this for the Seabrooks, I'm doing this for our little baby that we never got to meet and I'm doing this for all the other 1 in 4s, you are not alone!

I have only recently started running so this is going to be a huge challenge for me, however I would be hugely appreciative of any support you are able to give. Alternatively, sign up and join me and many others in the challenge! Details on how to join are in the page image.

On 10th May 2012 our beautiful first born child was stillborn. His name is Dylan Benjamin Seabrook. We were plummeted into a scary unfamiliar world. A dark world.

On Christmas Eve that same year we lost again, this time a miscarriage at 12 weeks.

Finally on 22nd October 2015 our rainbow baby now arrived. Dylan's little brother. Jenson Henry Seabrook. 5 weeks early due to pre-eclampsia and weighing 5lbs. But breathing! He is now a loud 4 year old who gives us so much joy.  Thank you J man.

Over the 7 1/2 years, we have experienced such taboo around baby loss. People don't acknowledge. People don't use Dylan's name. They are scared to hear about him.  The list is endless and I'm determined to help break this taboo and continue fundraising to help save babies lives.

We are doing this in memory of our first grandson, Dylan, who was born sleeping on the 10th May 2012.

As grandparents, not only were we grieving the death of our stillborn grandson but also seeing the pain of our daughter and son-in-law attempting to cope with the devastating loss of their first child. We felt powerless to know what to do, or how to help our daughter.

Tommy's understand this multi generational need and offers support to all the family.

    **UPDATE**

"I am now running 3 half marathons, London landmark,  Manchester and GNR all for Tommy's "

I’m running in memory of my friends stillborn son, Dylan. He was born silently on 10 May 2012 after a complicated and high risk few weeks. He weighed just 420g, he was so very tiny. They will never see his eyes, never hear his giggle and never get to know him and it was the most devastating loss. They are now very blessed with their rainbow (a baby after loss) baby, energetic 3 year old, Jenson. He was born via emergency c section at 35 weeks after a very quick pre eclampsia escalation!

They fundraise tirelessly for Tommys. Who fund research into stillbirth, miscarriage and premature birth. They have now raised over £19,000 and I’m so very proud of what they have achieved. If the money I raise by the running I do saves just one family going through what they have then it is all worth it.

Please do donate and support, it is so appreciated.

Michael Kendrick Heath was born 1st October 2006 at almost 26 weeks gestation. He was born with no heartbeat at 5.08 am after an induced labour due to early onset of pre eclampsia. Problems with the placenta were detected at the 22 week scan so the pregnancy was being closely monitored, however, the pre eclampsia came as an unexpected complication.

Michael is and always will be a precious part of our family.

I am doing the 2 mile Swim Serpentine on Saturday 21st September in Hyde Park - this will complete my London Classics! This comprises of the London Marathon, Ride London and Swim Serpentine.

When I think about finishing the swim and getting my Classics medal, I cry! I am such a mixture of excited/proud/sad/annoyed....

Grief is so complex and a never ending journey.  Forever finding the guilt in things.

I have been incredibly lucky and I will never take that for granted.

I am challenging myself to something so far out of my comfort zone to fund the research and support that Tommy's offers. I have seen the heartbreak of a miscarriage, of repeated miscarriages and the devastating loss of a child both those born sleeping and those who have died in early life.

The fact that I have been so lucky is something that I will never be blazé about. The pain of people I love dearly is real.

The Great North Run is my first race since having my baby girl, Georgia, in Feb 2017. I am running in support of the baby charity Tommy's. They provided us with really helpful information about having a premature baby, which we relied on when Georgia arrived 10 weeks early and was in hospital for the first month of her life.

Crucially, they fund research into miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth. I am running in memory of Dylan Benjamin Seabrook, my friend's baby who was sadly stillborn in 2012. His mum and dad have worked tirelessly over the last 5 years to raise thousands of pounds for Tommy's, and I'd like to do my bit to help them in memory of their baby boy.

One in four women lose a baby in pregnancy and birth. Please help us to reduce this shocking statistic, and to save babies' lives.

He has a brother! We are a family of four (5, sorry Barney dog!)

I'm determined to fundraise in Dylan's memory. To help save babies lives. To save even one family going through this heartbreak.

Please help me in reaching my goal!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the amazing GNR again this year!! You will all know that Ben and I have been blessed with our little rainbow baby boy, Jenson, born last October five weeks early.

We feel so lucky to have him here after the heartbreak of losing Dylan in 2012.  We will always be a family of four, but only three here in the pictures. Well and Barney of course! Not a day goes by that we don't think of Dylan and the second little one we lost at 13 weeks a few months later.

We need Tommys to be able to keep funding the important research into the countless unexplained stillbirths every year  so other families don't need to go through the pain we have.  Anything you can give however small, is so appreciated!

For Dylan and for Jenson xx

Just finished a 10 mile run at 1hr 57...thanks to all who have sponspored you are spurring me on!

We are running this year for Tommy's - Tommy’s funds research to save babies’ lives. A shocking 1 in 4 parents in the UK will lose their baby during pregnancy or birth and Tommy’s exists to change this. They fund lifesaving medical research into the causes and prevention of miscarriage, premature birth and stillbirth'.

@CharlieLS42 and I are doing it again Bupa great north run @Great_Run this time for @Tommys_baby #running4dylan

So we are doing it again! The Bupa Great North Run 2014!

This time we are taking the opportunity to run and raise money for a different baby loss charity - Tommy's.

They do a huge amount of research into stillbirth and miscarriage and also support parents of very tiny premature babies.

Please help us raise awareness of stillbirth and miscarriage.

So the training begins again... For Dylan x

We are running the great north run for SANDS please support us!

Thankyou so much to everyone for their amazing donations!! Bry x

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Ben, myself and my sister, Charlie, are running the Great North Run this September to raise much needed funds for Sands.

On 10th May 2012 our much loved and wanted first baby, Dylan, was born sleeping weighing just 420g. He was the spitting image of his daddy. We sadly then went on to lose a second baby to miscarriage on Christmas Eve 2012.

Most of you know our story, but if you would like to please read it here http://www.justgiving.com/BenandBryonySeabrook

We are determined to raise awareness of stillbirth and keep Dylan's memory alive.

Sands support families like us, from the bereaved parents to grandparents and aunts and uncles.

So please dig deep and donate now. Let's get running!!

Updated on Sep 21st 2012 at 12:38 PM from the JustGiving API

Any support and donations would be so appreciated x

On 10th May 2012 our lives changed forever. We very sadly lost our baby son, and firstborn child, Dylan Benjamin Seabrook.
Dylan was born asleep at 9.20pm, weighing just 420g, at Kingston Hospital.

I had been signed off work from the end of March due to high blood pressure and severe placental insufficiency. We prayed every day we could get far enough along so our baby could survive. But on a cold and wet May morning we were told our son's heartbeat had stopped and I would have to deliver him naturally.
The days and months that have followed our son's death have been very much a blur, very often not knowing how to get through the next day. The world seems a darker place.

We want you all to know that Dylan was perfect in every way. 10 fingers, 10 toes, and so so beautiful. He was the spitting image of his Daddy.
We never for a second imagined that the moment we met our son was also the moment we would say goodbye.

All of the money we raise will go directly to SANDS and make a massive difference to their mission statement:

    - To support anyone affected by the death of a baby;
    - To work with health professionals to improve the quality of care and services provided to bereaved parents and families;
    - To promote changes in antenatal practive and fund research that could help reduce the loss of babies' lives.

17 babies a day are stillborn or die within the first 28 days of life. Please help us raise money to help SANDS prevent more babies from dying.

Without Sands, we would be feeling more alone than we do already, more lost, and more scared of our future. We need Sands to keep researching stillbirth to help give us answers.
So please dig deep and donate now. For Dylan xx
