We are running the London Marathon 2018 on the 22nd April 2018, in memory of Jemma, a fantastic Mum, Step-mum and Wife.

Jemma passed away on January 8th 2016, at the age of 42, after she suffered a catastrophic stroke during Christmas of 2015. She was an English teacher at Greenbank High School in Southport, Merseyside

Since Jemma's passing, we have raised over £35,000 for the Walton Centre in Liverpool, where she received excellent care during her final days.

By helping us to reach our goal of £4,000, you are helping the Stroke Association fund vital research into Strokes, which can affect anyone of any age.

Please check out our website, www.jemmawithaj.co.uk to keep up to date with our fundraising.

Man v mountain is a 22 mile run from Caernarfon Castle to the summit of Snowdon and down the other side into Dinorwic Quarry. It's 22 miles and a climb of 5000 feet. I've never run this far (ever) and I am used to running on the flat. It's part of a fundraising plan we have to raise £50k for the only specialist Brain Injuries Centre in the UK called the Walton Centre.  We've raised over £30k since last year on justgiving and other events, so we've still got a long way to go. Stroke is a devastating condition and this hospital offers hope to those (150,000 a year in the UK)  who are unlucky to suffer a stroke. Please donate what you can. Every single pound matters. Thank you.   www.jemmawithaj.co.uk

Anyone who knows me, Hannah Quinn or our lovely friend Kerry-Anne may think this page has been created by an unlocked smartphone and a lucky palm. Not so. Believe it people, WE ARE RUNNING (ish)!

HQ and I were so moved by the amazing effort of the Natterjackers last September, we decided to give ourselves a challenge (and roped in Kerry-Anne). So, in October, we spent an outrageous amount of money on some 'proper' trainers and gingerly set to it.

No records will be set, it won't be pretty and our main objective is just to get round! But if ever there was an organisation that inspires this kind of ridiculousness, it's the Walton...

I'm using my 16th birthday present to help raise money for the Walton centre.

The skydive is on the 13th of November. This jump is dedicated to my English teacher, who sadly passed away on the 8th of January at the age of 42.

The Walton centre provided exceptional care. The skydive is fully paid for, so everything raised goes straight to this wonderful charity!

She was an amazing English teacher, and was loved by everybody at Greenbank High School.

Thank you so much for any donation you can make.

I will be running the "Natterjack 10k" in Southport on Sunday 25th September in memory of my friend Jemma Cottier.

Jemma suffered a major stroke in December last year and sadly passed away on 8th January 2016.

I visited Jemma several times whilst she was in the Walton Centre and there was no doubt that she received the best possible care from everyone involved.

Jemma (42) tragically suffered a fatal stroke at the beginning of the year; leaving behind a gorgeous husband, three wonderful sons and two beautiful step-daughters.

Jemma's family have been raising money all year for the Walton Center - who looked after them all so compassionately for the three weeks they spent there.

It would be so lovely if we could help raise just a little to go towards their already outstanding fundraising achievements. If you would like to support the charity and feel you could contribute in any way, we would be immensely grateful.

There are those that can run and those that cannot.  I like eating and drinking too much so for me this is a massive challenge but one I'm undertaking in memory of my best mate Jemma.

A week before Christmas Jemma suffered a devastating stroke from which she never recovered and sadly, on January 8th 2016, she passed away.  Jemma was only 42.

It's really hard to put down in words just what Jemma meant to me.  She was a massive influence in my life; she always knew the right thing to say and do and she made me laugh. A lot. And she introduced me to her brother Simon so we both owe her.  Life is just that little bit duller without Jemma in it.

Jemma would find it absolutely hilarious that I'm attempting this so that is my motivation (and with a little help from my mate Nicky who's running it with me) and also to raise a bit of money for The Walton Centre where Jemma was cared for in the best possible way.

Jemma's husband Rich wants to raise as much money as possible for The Walton Centre in memory of Jemma, over 16 thousand pounds has been raised already which just shows what a special lady she was and how much she meant to so many people.

The Walton Centre in Liverpool offers a world class neuroscience service which includes many pioneering techniques, cutting edge treatments; and clinicians who are international leaders in their field. Please donate whatever you can, no matter how small, because I'm never doing anything like this again so it's the only time I'll ask!

    Thank you.

It's been approximately 2 years since I donned my running shoes and took part in any form of organised run, and on Sunday 25th September, I'll be dusting off the 'Asics' and attempting to finish the Natterjack 10k.

It's been known for me to take part in a few famed races in the past however, since the arrival of little Miss Moon 3 months ago, my back, ankles and knees are not what they used to be (not to mention other things!), so this will certainly be a challenge, and that's just finding the time to train!.

Why? Well I'm running, along with a group of school alumni, in memory of my old school friend Jemma Cottier, who sadly passed away at the start of this year following a devastating stroke suffered just before Christmas 2015. Just 42 she's left behind an amazing loving family and so many friends, and is a huge inspiration to so many that knew her.

It's Jemma's family's wish for funds to be raised for The Walton Centre, the only specialist hospital trust in the UK dedicated to providing neurology, neurosurgery, spinal and pain management services.  Their specialist team took care of Jemma during those final weeks, and rely on funds to develop their neurology and spinal services further to support patients suffering from a wide range of long-term neurological conditions.

Please give generously! It's such an amazing cause and all in memory of a lovely lady. £10,000 has been raised in Jemma's name to date and every little goes such a long way.

I'll keep you updated on the training progress...

I met Jemma through our children who attended the same school. Immediately I noticed her beaming smile and she was first to make conversation. Typical Jemma. The life and soul of anywhere!

We got to know each other and discovered we both shared running in common. However, I'd say she enjoyed it far more than me. We promised each other that we'd go out running together and finish with a cava  but sadly, with both being busy mums, we never got round to it.

As she was such an inspirational person, I decided to do the Southport half marathon in her honour... The first in southport and one which we'd probably have done together.

I don't like running and with having children and working full time, my biggest challenge isn't the run. It's finding the time to train. However, my kids have been supporting me by going beside me on their bikes. I know Jemma would be so proud of them!

Please support Rich's vision of fundraising for the Walton centre and in providing something for them as a legacy to Jemma.

    Much love.

    Liz xx

We have known Jemma several years from social media and our mutual love of fizz, family & fitness. Jemma was a vivacious force, inspiring, kind and always raising a giggle on our timelines and Fitbit challenges!

Left devastated following her sudden illness and subsequently our bubbly friend losing her fight for life, we put our heads together and have decided to give up our vices for Lent to try to raise a little bit of money for The Walton Centre; a place that we have been assured by her family was of immeasurable comfort to all during her final weeks.

So for six weeks Sarah is giving up ALL social media, Gemma is giving up all alcohol, chocolate and cola (things that remind us of Jemma's posts), Jaymie is also giving up cow's milk (those who know Jaymie know that this is her staple food!).

There are many fundraising ideas & events going ahead in memory of Jemma and we want to do a little bit to say thank you to the Walton Centre and to support one another through this time having lost our dear friend.

As some of you may know, Jemma had a stroke at the start of the Christmas Holidays, and I am devastated to say that Jemma passed away on the 8th January 2016.

Jemma is leaving behind a fantastic legacy in her three boys, and I know that as a teacher she has had an impact on so many lives...

It is important to remember Jemma as the kind, thoughtful and caring person that she was, and to not dwell on that fact that she is now gone from this world.
