Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

On the 3rd of January 2012, we lost our brother, Julie lost her husband, Hugh lost his father, John and Rose lost their son and too many people lost their friend, John Reddan.

At the young age of 30, John died of Sudden Cardiac death during his sleep. We don’t know why, we only know that his heart stopped for no apparent reason. Hopefully through fundraising for CRY, we may help the medical profession understand why this happened and maybe prevent such tragedy from happening in the future to somebody else.

Every week in the UK, 12 apparently fit and healthy young aged 35 and under die from undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

80% of young sudden cardiac deaths will occur with no prior symptoms.

We aim to keep fundraising, so we didn't want to put a specific event on the page, as this won’t be a one off!
