Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am undertaking a momentous journey accross the country from Whitehaven to Tynmouth on a bike in the aid of charity. Please read all about it below.
The night before the funeral of a much respected and much loved man, Gil Rennie, I thought about this terrible disease cancer and how it has affected so many of my family and friends. People who were otherwise healthy, full of fun with loving families taken away by this curse.
I thought about my wife Nancy and her recent scare with breast cancer. I thought about how Nancy would probably not have survived 20-30 years ago and that how she would have had to have a masectomy only a few years ago. Now, physically at least, she is back to normal. All of this because of the research that has taken place by organisations like Cancer Research.
I had felt utterly helpless during Nancy's illness. My frustration and anger could not be reduced and I felt, the pain shared by all of the families who have had to suffer with the loss of their loved ones.
Now its time for me to get rid of some of that frustration by getting fit, cycling 140 miles from Whitehaven to Tynemouth and collecting as much money as I can to help in the war against cancer.
