Leeds Mencap offers compassionate, tailored support to children and young people in the city who have learning disabilities, autism and complex needs. We support both them and their families and carers to develop their strengths, build lasting connections and achieve their full potential.

Story

To All

On the weekend of the 19th July 2008 two charity events will be held in an effort to raise monies for, ‘The Hawthorne Family Support Centre’, which is run by Mencap. The event will be covered by local media, radio and television.

The Hawthorne Family Support Centre is run by Leeds Mencap to provide help and support for families with very young children with a learning disability.

The centre receives no government funding and is reliant on people and businesses in the area to keep its existence alive.

On , a golf tournament will be held at Ferrybridge Golf Course. The day will cater for thirty teams of four players.

On , a ten pin bowling tournament will be held at Bowlplex Castleford (Xscape Complex). Catering for twenty teams of eight players.

Both Tournaments will have overall winners who will receive a trophy headed, ‘The Richard Tennant Memorial Trophy’.

The trophy is named after my brother Richard who sadly died in January 2008 following an accident at his home address. Richard was 24 years of age and left a loving fiancée, family and friends.

As such we have organised these tournaments in Richards’s memory but also in an effort to raise monies for a much needed cause.

Raffle tickets are to be sold by teams entering both tournaments and one large raffle will be held on Monday night at the bowling tournament.

The aim is obviously to raise monies via donations and from the raffle draw, however to sell tickets we need prizes.

If you feel you are able to and would like to donate any prize or prizes for these events please contact myself.

Any help is appreciated.

Kindest regards

Andrew Tennant.
