Story
Well here is the route from 19th June, we actually covered 205miles!!
Simon and I covered 205 miles between Dawn and Dusk on the 19th June the weather was kind and so were a lot of other people. We'll post our route just as soon as my head works again.
If you're reading this I'm hoping you are thinking of making a donation - If so why not add the number of miles you think we'll cover in the message section and if you're the closest to our actual total we'll send you either Pete's sweaty vest from the ride or a box of chocolates - The choice is yours! Good Luck!!
OK so what happened? I thought you were running the London Marathon! I was but I fractured one of the metatarsal bones in my left foot (this injury is commonly known as a "march" or "stress" fracture. So sadly after 8 months and about 800 miles of running I've had to give up on doctors orders my dream of running The London Marathon.
What am I doing instead? On or around the summer solstice my good friend Simon O'Sullivan and I are going to ride from Dawn 'till Dusk (approximately 18hrs) which I hope you'll all agree is a suitable tough challenge to replace the marathon.
£750 was the minimum I needed to raise to run the London Marathon obviously I'd like to Raise more for Reach so lets see how much we can exceed £750 by! Thank You!!
When Nick and I arrived home from our Icelandic Adventure (We raised over £14,000 so a BIG thank you to all of you who supported us) I thought that after 15 days cycling in wind and rain running 26 miles would be over in a morning! A quick email to Reach and I was committed to running the 2012 London Marathon.
I've never run a marathon before (infact I've never run more than 7 or 8 miles.) but I'm properley excited about running my first in London in Olympic year although I've had to give myself a talking to so that my ambition dosen't outstrip my ability. I'm not running in a chicken suit or dressed as a nurse because I want to post the best time I can which will mean lots of training starting this July.
Latest News - I've just run my first running race since I left school - Camberley 10k and I finished 19th overall and 9th in the veterans catergory with a time of 42.45 on the hottest October day ever recorded! I'm quite pleased!!
I've entered both the Wokingham and Reading half marathons as preparation for running the London Marathon and a good excuse for a bit of extra fundraising.
