Raising Money for Myaware

Prudential RideLondon 2019 · 4 August 2019 ·
On the 4th August I will be taking part in the RideLondon100 Bike race, I'm raising money for an excellent charity called Myaware. This charity supports families and individuals with Myasthenia, which is an illness that causes muscle weakness. It can effect people of all ages and genders, the disease targets the message and communications between your brain and muscles throughout the body. It can be controlled with the right Medication.
I'm supporting this charity as they have helped me and my family over the last year. In November 2017 my daughter Rosie was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, at the time like most people we had no knowledge of this illness. Rosie has to take permenant medication to control the disease and fortunately manages to lead a relatively normal life. We know through our own experience how serious this illness can be, just over 12 months ago Rosie has what is known as a Myasthenia Crisis, which affected her ability to breath and take in enough oxygen. As a result she spent 4 days in intensive care in Addenbrooks Hospital Cambridge.
The support we get from myaware and Addenbrooks has been superb, it has helped us as a family cope with the situation and understand more about the illness and how we control it.
So I'm riding 100 miles (which is a long way for someone that does not cycle regularly!!) to raise money and allow other children with the condition to be supported by this charity.
I and Rosie would be grateful for any donations you can make.
Thank you
Peter and Rosie Mansell
