Throughout my previous relationship I was waking up not knowing whether I'd get through the full day. Everyone thought I wouldn't make it out alive. There aren't words that I could use to describe how I felt on a day to day basis. I was made to be isolated from family and friends. I gave up my goals, my dreams and had no self-confidence. I finally turned it around and got help. My worker supported me through more than just court. She was there when I just needed a friend to talk to, I wasn't judged and they worked exclusively as I wanted them to, to help me. The team stood by me even when I kept going back to him, they constantly came up with other options so that I could feel safe, hopefully and eventually agree to leave. The team work closely with the police undercover, they've sat outside my house for hours just to make sure I am safe. Now that I'm free.. I am training to become a prison officer and I'm also taking my driving lessons. I have hope, determination and I have learnt to know my self worth. My case has been closed with the group, however my worker and her team still keeps in contact to see how I am doing, making sure I'm safe and if I need any more support. I couldn't have got through it without them.
