Virgin London Marathon 2017 · 21 January 2016

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.

I am a specialist nurse on the renal unit and have worked with chronically ill children for the last 16 years helping them with the management of their long term conditions with dialysis, to the  facilitation of receiving a kidney transplant. I love my job and it is so rewarding to help these children whose lives are affected so much, and to be able to make a difference to the quality of life these children endure on a daily basis.

Your donation would be gratefully acknowledged and will make a very real difference to children and families across the UK facing the most difficult circumstances imaginable.

Running the London marathon has been a long life ambition of mine since the age of 15 years old. I'm now 36 and closer to reaching my dream and I can't be  more honored to be doing  it for the children and families I work with.

The training is going well although I have sustained a few injuries. Completing the Birmingham half marathon  was a massive buzz for me and I decided very quickly that I wanted to do London 2017 with a BCH vest on .

I have ran the Warwickshire half marathon , the pretty muddy and the great north run. All good training. I have now recently reached my first 20 mile non stop run. I have also given up drinking for the past 7 months in preparation for Sunday 23rd April 2017.

Looking after ourselves is now a big part of our lives after I was genetically diagnosed with FH 24 months ago. FH is a genetic cholesterol condition Familial hypercholesterolaemia which untreated can lead to early heart disease.  My son Jack who is only 7 yrs old has now been diagnosed with the condition too. One of our proudest moments was us both running the 5k Santa Jog together. Jack was amazing! We are a very positive family and thank our lucky stars that genetic tests are available. There are many health conditions which are far worse then mine and Jacks and we will do everything we can to help families and children who are more unfortunate then ourselves.

Thanks for all your support it means the world to me. This journey has been incredible and this is a last push to raise as much money as i can for a wonderful hospital Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Massive thanks to everyone xxxxxx
