Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 3rd December 2012 my 3 year old son Alex was savagly attacked by an unsupervised dog whilst walking with my wife near a local park.

His face was ripped apart from mouth to almost ear by both upper and lower jaws of the dog, it tore flesh, muscles and nerves and we thought that life would never be the same again.

He was taken by ambulance to St Georges where a team from the plastics department were waiting on standby, they looked after him and my wife and within a few hours of arriving Alex had undergone several hours of extensive surgery to repair his skin and muscles, and nerves as much as possible. At the time and for the next few weeks we didnt know how much the feeling and movement would recover in Alex's face, whether his speech would be affected, and whether his saliva glands would be able to cope.

A year on, thanks to the excellent and prompt care of the surgeons and the team available at St Georges Alex has full feeling and muscle usage back, he has no speech problems and even the physical scarring although present for life is nothing compared to how we thought he may end up on that Monday afternoon 12 months ago.

A thankyou was never going to be enough, and so I have decided to run the marathon and give something back by raising much needed funds to assist and support them in the future to continue providing the same level of care that we received.

St Georges Hosiptal made a life changing difference to my son and our entire family and I would truely appreciate your support in saying thankyou in this way.
