Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Initially I was going to run the Great Birmingham 10k on May 31st to raise funds for Acorns, and lots of people have donated and contributed to my total so far.  I did actually run a 10k of my own to honour this on 26th April.  I sat down and thought I could do more to help them, so I now have an additional plan and target to work towards, incorporating my love of football with my work and running that I've now taken up.

As a fan of Walsall Football Club, the season has been suspended as of 13th March 2020 due to Coronavirus.  Walsall had 6 remaining AWAY games to play - at Stevenage, Macclesfield, Mansfield, Cambridge, Grimsby and Bradford.  The distance to each ground (from Walsall FC) has been added together and totals 475 miles exactly which is why this is the figure I will be aiming to cover before 12/7/20.  THe date of the 12th July was picked as this would have been the Euro 2020 Final date had it gone ahead.

Now, I work as a postman and I run a couple of times a week, but to do 475 miles between now and the 12th July is still a massive ask.  I will be starting the countdown to the finish as of 4th May 2020, and will update weekly on where I am at through my stats on Fitbit.

I appreciate a lot of people have contributed already, but if anyone else can help please do donate, it is all welcome and appreciated.  For those who have already donated, if you can dig into your pockets further to help, again it is massively appreciated.

Acorns provide a network of specialist palliative nursing care and support for babies, children and young people aged 0-18 who have life limiting or life threatening conditions and associated complex needs

Acorns relies on the community to fund the majority of its activities and as a very critical service for lots of families it is important that we all do what we can to ensure Acorns can continue providing the top-level care they do, for a long time to come.

If you can help me towards my fundraising target (initially it was £500 and I got to £1000, I've now raised it to £1234.70 (as this is what I raised last year for Prostate Cancer UK)) I would be more than grateful, and any amount you can contribute is fantastic.

Thank you in advance for your fantastic support!
