CRY - Canoes around Lincolnshire - Robin Wright · 14 May 2009

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.  This sponsorship idea originated in memory of our friends' son, John Aidan Eastwood, who prior to his sudden death, appeared to be a  very fit and active 18 year old who loved life and sport.  The canoeing trip has been planned and organised together with his parents, John and Gwenn who have nearly reached their target to purchase a mobile cardiac screening unit for use in our local areas and could possibly screen your son or daughter which would detect cardiac defects.

The challenge will be to complete a 4 day canoeing trip around Lincolnshire, starting early morning on Thursday 21st May 09 and finishing on Sunday 24th May 09. This trip will take in canoeing along the Trent, into the Humber and  then down the east coast, coming in at Boston, with the final leg of the journey back to Lincoln on Sunday.  It is estimated to be around 180 miles.

Andy Giles will be joining me on this journey and for part of the way some of 1st Willingham Scouts and Explorers will also accompany us, together with other canoeists who have expressed an interest to take part.

Perhaps I can take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of CRY and myself for supporting this very worthwhile charity.
