Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

At my 60th birthday celebration last year I said that I was going to do a challenge for charity in 2022 so I’ve signed up for the Montrose Community Trust’s 50 day 5km Challenge. The Trust does great work within the local community in support of people who are socially isolated, unemployed, living with dementia or suffering from poor mental health amongst other areas of their work.

I’ve committed to do 5km a day every day for 50 consecutive days to meet their challenge. I’ll be either walking or cycling to achieve this goal – the days of me running are well and truly over! Any funds I raise will be split 50:50 between Montrose Community Trust and Parkinsons UK, a charity that is close to my heart as my Dad has been suffering from this illness for some time. It’s also affected other family members and there’s no cure so I hope whatever I can raise will help make a small difference.

Although the challenge is 5km a day for a total of 250km in the 50 days I’m going to try to do double that which is roughly the equivalent of going from Montrose to Thurso, my Dad’s place of birth and then back to Inverness, his home town. So I’ll end up hopefully doing  513km in 50 days. I hope you can support me along the way and appreciate any contribution you can make.
