Rosemary Lake-Benson 1937-2011

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My mum, Rosemary Lake-Benson, died at home on the morning of 30th January 2011, aged seventy-three, from metastatic lung and brain cancer. Throughout her last weeks, her quality of life was hugely improved by the care provided by St Luke's Hospice; at first, this meant enjoying many treatments, activities and delicious cakes(!) during weekly visits to their wonderful Kenton Grange facility.
When Mum became too ill to attend, St Luke's provided a 'Hospice At Home' care system and she was visited by two healthcare professionals twice - and towards the end, three times - every day. This was a boon to us all, and not least of all as some respite to my sister Kim, who cared for Mum at home 24/7 for six-and-a-half months.
St Luke's helped Mum attain a very special and personal goal: to die with dignity. The service they provide is exceptional, the nurses and staff are so friendly, approachable and well-trained; in so many senses of the word and to such a huge degree, they care.
