Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Tuesday 3rd August at 5.25pm, after 14 hours, 25 minutes and 27 seconds, we made it, and touched France!!
This has been the most amazing experience for me, and the biggest physical and mental challenge I've ever done. I feel so proud of the whole team, and I couldn't have wished to share the moment with a better bunch of people.
We were extremely lucky with the weather for the first 10 hours, at which point the weather gods decided to make our lives a little harder, and my 2nd swim was possibly the most challenging hour of my life! It got very choppy for the last 4 hours, but we ploughed on through and made it.
A few people have asked me whether I would do it all again, and my answer, suprisingly is a yes. I've learnt a lot about myself, and met an amazing group of people. I feel proud to be part of a select group of individuals that can say they've swum the channel.
I'm still collecting and still fundraising, so please take a look at the pictures and videos, and read about why I've done this, and once again, I am eternally grateful to everyone that has shown me support throughout this journey. xxx To see the video of our swim check youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=paNnOnrfy00
To remind you (and myself!) of why I'm doing this; Aspire is a charity that supports people with spinal injury - from injury to independence. Spinal cord injury has a devastating effect on the 1200 people who become paralysed each year. I have worked for Aspire for just over 2 years now, and have met some truly inspirational people. If you would like to see more about where the money you donate will be going, please visit the Aspire website www.aspire.org.uk .
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
