Well, I made it in one piece. It took me 3.38m to complete; not so bad for an old codger! Onward and upward towards next year's Iron Man??
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Remember it is not how much you give, it's the spirit it is given in that really counts! Any donation is very welcome.
Some of you very generous folks out there will remember me raising funds in 2007, running the Great North Run. Whilst I still do that every year, this year I thought I would try something a few steps up from a half marathon.
Until recently I was the treasurer of Maldon (Essex) Mind, a mental health charity which does much good work in this area. Pressure of work and an expanding business means that I can only now help to raise funds for them. This year I am aiming to raise £2,500 for the charity by entering the London Triathlon on 8th August 2010. Given a fair wind, I should finish the course in less than four hours. Raising funds in this way is very important to charities, especially in hard times such as these. It enables them to continue to offer services, when funding has been withdrawn or cut back.
For those who need to know the statistics of an Olympic length triathlon event, here they are:
1. A 1.5km (.93 mile) swim in a rat invested dock
2. A 40km (just under 24.85 miles) bike ride through the streets of from ExCel Centre to , return
3. To top it all off, a 10km (just over 6.21 miles) run.
Thank you
Chris
