Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
"My Dad was diagnosed suddenly with a brain tumour in August last year. It took his life too quickly and cruelly; he died in October. He loved to run so it seemed a good way for me to remember him and to raise awareness about this type of cancer and support The Brain Tumour Charity." Carina
Some facts:
2% of the cancer research funding in the UK is spent on brain tumours.
27 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour every day.
5000 people lose their lives to a brain tumour every year.
Brain tumours reduce life expectancy by 20 years, the highest of any cancer.
It is for these reasons that we are raising awareness and money for The Brain Tumour Charity to help fund vital research for a faster diagnosis and better treatment for this type of cancer. We want to stop a diagnosis being a death sentence.
As we have not run for a while we decided to start training in March. We are starting with 'couch to 5k', ramping it up to 10k, then training hard to meet the 13.1 miles on the day. It's going to be tough but we have plenty of time to prepare.
