Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Martin lost his father Anthony William Blazeby at the end of last year; he suffered terribly with Multiple myeloma, a rare form of bone marrow cancer. Despite only being 58 at the time of diagnosis and extensive treatment given, his fight with this horrible cancer ended after a two year battle. He was a pragmatic man; always putting people before himself without any consideration, lasting right up until the time of his death. It is with great sadness that he will not be able to witness the marriage of his son Martin to Jenny on June 16th 2012.
Martin and Jenny are keen runners so they have both decided to give something back and will take part in two events this year to raise awareness and much needed sponsorship for the charity Myeloma UK.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Martin is running the Cotswolds ultra marathon which is 100 miles long and will take place on 22nd June, just a few days after his wedding! This crazy endeavour of non-stop running will be a lonely and mentally challenging event and will take place throughout the night finishing the next day 23rd June. Martin has never done anything like this before and aims to complete within 24 hours with Jenny providing round the clock support. http://www.ultrarace.co.uk/events/details/?eventid=112
2. Martin and Jenny will be running the Great North Run, the world’s biggest and most iconic half marathon on 16th September.

What difference will your donation make?
Multiple myeloma is treatable, but it is not a curable condition. Myeloma UK relies almost entirely on voluntary donations and income from fundraising activities. Without the generosity of fundraisers and donors it wouldn’t be able to provide the programmes and services it does for healthcare professionals, patients and their families or to fund vital research into the genetics and causes of myeloma. http://www.myeloma.org.uk/
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please think of Martin and Jenny participating in these events. You can do your bit by digging deep and donating now!
