Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·

The British Forces Foundation boosts the morale of servicemen and women of our Armed Forces on the frontline and in operational theatres all over the world, primarily through high quality entertainment featuring well-known stars.

Story

I've left the fundraising part of this (not to mention the actual training part) a little late... as.. well, I didn't quite beleive I would actually go through with it. I can’t stick to a decision to give up smoking for more than 1 hour, or manage more than 2 dry non alcohol days in any one of my (many) planned dry weeks, so it is quite fair to say  that self control and dedication are not my strongest attributes… yet here I am having pledged to raise (just slightly) more than 1 months cigarette and alcohol (thats 2.5k for those that don't know) allowance for the British Forces Foundation (BFF) in return for running a MARATHON?

I could have took the easy way and just quit drinking and smoking for one month and given the cash directly to the BFF (why didn’t I think of that earlier?), but hell, no… I figured running a Marathon would be much more fun (???).

This is difficult… cold mornings, dark nights, my poor little chicken legs having to put some severe mileage in on the tarmac. Please help me make it worthwhile… give generously.

To make it more entertaining, I am happy to bargain for extra donations (i.e : I’ll give you an extra £20 but you must run one mile backwards... or I’ll give you an extra £500 but you must run in your bra… be creative).

I expect to see you all there laughing at my pain on 22 April 2012.
