Story
Hi guys!
A lot of you probably don't know this but when I was younger I was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis, a super rare bone-marrow disease that's similar to Leukaemia. The illness was a multi-system disease which meant it affected the functioning of a lot of my organs and the majority of my childhood was spent in and out of hospital (which wasn't the best of times). So, when Make-A-Wish approached me to offer me my very own wish, I wished to go to Lapland to meet the one and only Santa Claus. Predictable I know, but it had a sentimental value for me as, until that year, I had spent every Christmas day for the last 5 years in hospital.
Even though I was about 7 years old, I remember so much from that trip (meeting 'Santa' wasn't even the highlight). Make-A-Wish didn't simply pack us on a plane with a map to a fat-guy-with-a-beard's house; we were treated like royalty. They organised husky rides, sledging, ice-fishing, snowmobile rides, reindeers-pulling-a-sleigh rides, hot chocolate in a teepee and we even had a sauna in our hotel room!
The effort Make-A-Wish went through just to give our family a time-out from the stress of hospitals was amazing. Which is why, 13 years later, I've decided to run a half-marathon for them! Please donate to help Make-A-Wish continue granting wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. I'm testimony for how much my 'wish' meant to me and my family, and how donating money will guarantee the same for others!
I only have less than 5 weeks to train for this because of an injury that stopped me running for a while. So, this is a serious challenge for me and I will really appreciate all of your help, donations and support along the way!
Lotsa love xo
