Before you do anything, just close your eyes and imagine what it would be like to never see again. I, like you can't imagine the pain, frustration and anger of not being able to see your family, the places you love, just the small things we take for granted every day. This is why I'm running for Blind Vetrans UK.

I've been a Radio Producer/Presenter for the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) for over 8 yeras now and I distinctively remember playing a piece of audio on my show years ago, telling the story of a young soldier who'd been serving in Basra in Iraq when he lost his sight. His life came to a shuddering halt. He had already made the ultimate sacrifice is going to war and now he was faced with spending the rest of his life, not being able to see a thing. My heart went out to him and I was amazed by his courage. A year or so later I was watching the London Marathon as I always have done, and there he was running it.

For anyone who's invloved in the fores world, you will know just how much pride and how much of a privilage it is to be associated with the Amred Forces. This is my way of doing something that's challenging and through my running I can hopefully raise awareness of the realities that some of our Ex-service personnel face.
