Story

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to covid 19, the great south run 2020 was  unfortunately cancelled. However, this does not mean this fundraiser is over. I have continued running and training to run further distances and have been thinking hard of a challenge I can set which does not require entry into events which run the risk of being cancelled.

I also wanted to relate the challenge to Wildwood in some way and what better link than the recent arrival of two new bear cubs Mish and Lucy to Wildwood. For those who do not know the story of the two cubs, they were found abandoned in Albania and the rescue effort took them to a temporary home in Belgium before finding their forever home with the Wildwood Trust. The journey they have undertaken is an incredible one and in honour of their trip from Albania to the UK, this is what I want to base my challenge on.

According to Google maps, the total distance from London to Tirana (Albania's capital) is 1,417 miles: Approximately 2,300km.

Starting October 1st, my challenge will be to run a grand total equalling their 2,300km journey and I hope to achieve this before the end of 2021. This will mean running a grand total of just over 150km every month for the next 15 months before we hit 2022.

I am happy to finalise exactly what my challenge is. And I look forward to seeing this through to the end and I hope to add my Strava account to this site and provide a running total so you can follow my progress.

With that notice concluded, please read on to see why I've chosen to raise money for The Wildwood Trust.

Thank you kindly for stopping by on my JustGiving page.

I was lucky enough to work for this outstanding charity and I want to take the opportunity to give something back. Working within the Park Assistant team, (who are amazing!), I saw first hand how everyone at Wildwood supports animal conservation and everything is directly related to achieving the goals the charity has.

Wildwood is committed to saving the most threatened of British wildlife past and present and it contributes to many conservation programmes on top of their own continuous rescue efforts. Beyond this work continues on Mish and Lucy's forever home, and more recently still, the fire which hit the park on top of the terrible pandemic would have made the need for donations even greater. I hope this will allow me to do my bit.

All I can say is thank you again for taking the time to read through this story. If you are in a position to leave a donation, it is massively appreciated, and I know it will go a long way. Likewise, messages of encouragement and the sharing of this page are equally appreciated.

If you would like more information about the charity and the work they do, I will leave the link to their website here:
