Story
Infertility affects 1 in 6 people, it's the guy on the bus, the couple next door, the girl in the supermarket. In fact it could even be your friend or sibling and you probably would have no idea!!
Often suffering in private unsure of who to turn to or what support is out there, it can be an isolating, frightening and anxious time. A rollercoaster of emotions from one treatment to the next, feeling like you should be in a different room to everyone else. That person on the bus or in the supermarket is me. The years spent working within reproductive medicine helped me and my beloved husband navigate the fertility journey, other other patients are not so lucky.
I have worked in this rewarding and challenging area for over 7 years, it's been a privilege looking after patients and helping them become parents.
I took up running nearly three years ago to get fit and to raise money for cancer research by doing race for life. Since then it's been a big part of my life, running with the love of my life and close friends it's great therapy and means I can eat more cake!!
I want to show my support to all the patients and dedicated staff who support them by giving this half marathon all I've got. More awareness, more education will lead to more advances so that more people can become parents, maybe that could include me!
