2010 Paris Marathon · 11 April 2010 ·

Mencap wants a world where people with a learning disability gain an equal right to choice opportunity and respect. We believe that support for the families and carers of people with a learning disability is vital to achieving our vision

Story

I'm sure you all get lots of these requests, but I would be really grateful if you could sponsor me for whatever you can manage. I'm running the Paris marathon this year on the 11th of April for a great charity called Mencap- which works to improve the life of those with learning disabilities, both young and old in the UK.

The bullets below give an idea of exactly the kind of things Mencap does:

Supporting people with a learning disability to get a job or take a college course, or helping them find a place of their own to live in.

Offering advice about things like respite care, individual budgets or transport services

Running residential/day care services and leisure groups that are so important to so many people with a learning disability, and their families and supporters

Supporting people with a learning disability to be part of their local communities

Lobbying the government to change laws so that more and more people with a learning disability can have control over their own lives

The marathon is just 2 weeks away and I'll be aiming to go underneath 4 hours. If any of you happen to be in Paris on the day, feel free to come down and give me a shout. In any case, I'll put some pictures up on here as well as an update to let you know how it all went.

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and I would really appreciate any donation however small...

Best,

Sud
