Birmingham Half Marathon · 18 May 2012

Acorns supports around 750 children and almost 1,000 families every year. The charity needs to raise £11 million each year to provide its lifeline care. Your support means Acorns can continue to be there for local families facing the unimaginable. Together, we are stronger.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Why am I running the Birmingham half marathon ? ( it is something I keep asking myself as I start my training ! ) well its something i've always wanted to do, and at 41 I aint getting any younger, and before anybody else says it, slimmer either ! so I thought I needed to get my (fat) arse in gear and get signed up - which I have now done, so no going back. Its not something I think I will be repeating again, so for such an earth moving event ( literally, have you seen me run ! ) I decided I would try to raise money for a local charity - for which I have chosen Acorns. Having my beautiful daughter Aimee to look at every day is fantastic, and I couldn't imagine how families cope with a son / daughter that has a life limiting and life threatening illness, so trying to raise money for such a good cause as Acorns, where they support such families is a no brainer !
