Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page

Update 10 Sept: I finished in 2:26:03!  Thanks for all your support ... and it's still not too late to sponsor me and support Penny Brohn!

Training update 2 Sept: I ran my 10 miler today!  Completed it in 1h52min including a short break.  Was quite pleased with that given my training has been a little disjointed over the last few weeks given recent events.  So aiming for a time of about 2h20min next week in Bristol.  See you there!!

Update 29 Aug: I'm sad to report that Mum passed away on the 9th, suddenly and peacefully while walking with a friend on a beautiful winter's day in Wellington.  I'm in NZ at the moment, but keeping up the training, running in the hills around my family home.  I will be back in Bristol in time for the half marathon, which I'm really looking forward to - I'll be running a 10 miler on Sunday in preparation.  Thanks to everyone for all your support!

Training update 8 Aug: last week I went on a 7 mile run that took me 1h5m, and today I went on an 8.5 mile run that took 1h15m.  Am planning to do a 10 mile run in the next week - will let you know how I go!!

I've decided to run the Bristol Half Marathon this year on 9 September to get fit and to show myself I can do it!  I've started my training, which is a mixture of running (surprisingly ;), going to the gym and playing football for Nailsea United ladies!  I also took part in the Bristol Harbour fun run on 27 June.

I'm taking the opportunity to raise money for Bristol-based Penny Brohn Cancer Care, who provide much needed support and advice to cancer sufferers and their families.  Many of you will know that my Mum was diagnosed with cancer nearly two years ago, and Penny Brohn has provided much needed support during my time away from her and the rest of my family.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Penny Brohn Cancer Care (formerly Bristol Cancer Help Centre) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support!
