Royal Parks Half Marathon 2009 · 11 October 2009 ·

Railway Children has a vision of a world in which no child is lost to the streets. Across the UK, India and Tanzania, our networks provide an opportunity for us to reach children who are alone and vulnerable before they come to serious harm. Together, we’re determined we’ll leave no child behind.

Story

Here's a short story about me: I was never a sporting person when I was a kid. In fact when I was 6 I broke my elbow playing football...and I was only the goalkeeper! I then proceeded to brake the same elbow two more consecutive times in sport-related events. So as you can see I'm certainly not at athlete, which shows how much I need all your support on this!

I've been training for about five months so far and I'm very proud of the progress. That's why I'm asking you all to sponsor me for this half marathon. The charity I'm running for is Railway Children; a great charity that looks after children in India, UK, Latin America, East Africa and other parts of the world. In their words this is what they do:

'We do provide the shelter, food, clothing, education and healthcare that are all essential to a child's wellbeing. That’s an incredibly important part of our work but it's not the thing that makes us unique. Our goal is to intervene with a child at the earliest opportunity before an abuser does. We aim to stop a runaway child becoming a street child. It's about getting to street kids before the streets get to them.'

Donating through JustGiving is super simple, fast and totally secure. Please make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

THANK YOU!
