Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page

4ft Siobhan has now been released to the North Sea off Buchanness Lighthouse Boddam.  24/08/07 at 10.50am.  You can now track her for free at www.mtsltd.com

Guess how far she will travel for only £2.00 per guess, the winner recieves a hand made 2ft model sailboat "Lady Rachel"  Just write down your distance in nautical miles and leave a contact number in the comment box incase you win. "GOOD LUCK"

We are reliving an age old Boddam tradition of releasing a hand built model sail boat to the sea which goes back over 150 year's and eventually paved way to the Boddam boaties race's which were held once a year and are still held to this day up at the Den Dam at Stirling Hill.  This Historical event will help bring some comfort to children being cared for at the hospital in Aberdeen through raising fund's for The Archie Foundation.

"ARCHIE " stands for Aberdeen Royal Children's Hospital Is Excellent

On her release there will be Television, Radio and Newspaper coverage so advertise on her now "DONT MISS OUT"

The 4foot sailboat Siobhan, is to be released to the North Sea with a satellite tracking device on board so we can track the distance she covers.  We are putting forms out in shops and pubs all over the North East of Scotland, asking people to give two pounds to guess how far she will travel.  In the event of a tie the winner will be drawn from a hat, the prize is a two foot model sail boat "Lady Rachel".  The release date will be July or August this Summer.  We would also like to ask companies to donate to this charity and we will advertise your company on the boat, this is also going into a book written by myself.
This event is in memory of our niece Siobhan Morrison who was cared for at The Childrens Hospital in Aberdeen Scotland but sadly died last year aged 11 yrs.  We would like to thank all the staff and people concerned for the excellent care and affection during her hospital stay.  The tracking device was very kindly donated by Andy Lambert of www.mtsltd.com  and we cant thank him and his company enough for this, as our project would not have been possible without the tracker,"cheers Andy."  Anyone can go onto Andys website and watch the sailboat Siobhan live on the live demo page, just click on Siobhan.  She will be released off of Buchanness Boddam in July or August depending on weather and tides so as to give her a sporting chance, her sails will eventually get wiped out but hopefully she will still drift on.

Get your companies name on the boat by donating on this site and become part of this Historical Event, your companies name will also go in the book about the event..  Or donate £2.00 and put a guess on how far you think she will drift before either grounding, sinking or the Satellite Tracker battery run's out, (it might last 16 day's ) Remember you can win the 2 foot sailboat "Lady Rachel."  Remember to write your distance in Nautical Miles under the comment and leave a contact number incase you win.  "Good Luck" and Thank's.  Also listen out for our competition on Peterhead's Waves Radio FM 101.20.  Thank's very much Kenny King and Wave's Radio for sponsoring this fund by free advertising on the radio. www.wavesfm.com

Also thank's to Halford's of Peterhead for kindly donating a large motorcycle battery needed to power our satellite tracker, "Good on yea Halford's."  It's comforting to know that businesses in the North East can be so generous and come together to sponsor such a needy charity and also become part of our Hisorical Event, "Thank's North East," keep it up.  "WATCH THIS SPACE!!"

We can also put your kid's name inside the vessel with a personnal message so they can become part of this Historical Event.  They can write anything they want on any subject, just like a message in a bottle but it's a message in a boat "COOL".  Just leave a donation with the Name and Age and place your kid's personnal message under the comment box, but be sure to write "Inside Boat" after your message so that we know to put this in the boat.  Anyone can send a message to the one you love or are missing, and watch your special message cross the sea, "Live" on the net.  All these message's of love and hope will be sealed inside this vessel to make her extra special.  Hopefully it might bring you  some luck or at least some comfort on anything you might be going through yourself and help bring comfort to some of the kid's being cared for in the Aberdeen Children's Hospital.  This sailboat will be full of emotion on her voyage, some sadness some love and happiness, but all these personnal message's will be special and together in strength will help the sailboat Siobhan to sail on in peace and happiness for the Archie Fund.   "Be Part Of It."

Our thank's goes out to the Buchan Observer, The Press and Journal, The Daily Mail, Waves Radio and STV Television for covering our sponsored sailboat "Siobhan."

"Please sponsor the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital through this fund, most of us will have used the Children's Hospital at some point."

Thank's to "EQULIZER INTERNATIONAL"  for being our very first Business to donate money and set a standard for the N.E.  Also thank's to "PARK GARAGE" Boddam for being our first Boddam business to donate offline.  "Good on yea both"  Also thank you to STEVEN MURRAY aged 4 for his contribution and he's message will be sealed inside the boat.  Thank you MOTOR VESSEL "BUCHAN ELLE"  for your contribution.  This is all very much appreciated.   Thanks to Mike from AM Campbell (UK) Ltd Peterhead for his very generous donation offline.  Also thanks to Kirkburn Mills Peterhead for there kind donations.

Thanks  "The Accenture Foundation" for your generous donation to Archie Fund  and also thanks to "Living Waters Community Church PHD" for your very kind donation to Archie Fund as well.  Thanks to all the people that are donating through this website, keep up the good work and well done.
