Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
This challenge has been inspired by David's brother Stevie Graham who tragically died in a car accident in 2014. Prior to his accident he had lived and worked in Columbo and intended to ride around Sri Lanka to raise money for The Rainbow Centre; A haven for children who live in appalling conditions. Its aim is to equip the children with the skills they need to break free from the poverty in which they live. Its primary focus is to enable children to access the educational system. To date, it has enabled 460 children to go to mainstream school.
Since 2014, led by Stef Graham (David's mother) Stevie's family and friends have raised enough funds for a classroom to be built, which is up and running and making a huge impact on the children at The Rainbow Centre. They are now oversubscribed and in desperate need for another classroom. Allthough Stef is no longer here, we will continue to take on the challanges; On Saturday 25th a Feb (over 7 days), a Dutchman (Chris), an Australian / Italian (Sev), 3 Canadian's (Yuri, Wallace and Patrick) and 3 Brits (Sean, Nick and David) will ride from Salalah to Muscat in February, to raise enough funds to build the second classroom.

All 8 of us got to Salalah ! Thank you to all for your tremendous support; If you were meant to donate but didn't get round to it, there is still time. I have had confirmation from The Rainbow Centre that all additional monies generated will be put to great use.
Support trailer packed - Setting off in the morning 5:30am. We will be updating on this Instagram #muscatsalalahrainbowride
The Route Day 1: Muscat - Ras Al Jinz (turtle beach) - 250km Day 2: Ras Al Jinz - Wahiba (south) - 220km Day 3: Wahiba - Khalouf beach - 180km Day 4: Khalouf - Duqm - 100km Day 5: Duqm-Ras Madrakah- Al Labki 240km Day 6: Al Labki - Shuwaymiyah road - 240km Day 7: Shuwaymiyah road via Mirbat to Salalah - 185km
Setting off on Saturday All best laid plans............. We have switched the route Muscat to Salalah due to wind direction. 8 riders started to have a sense of humour failure at the thought of 1400KM into a headwind........... We decided not to change the shirts as arabs read from right to left anyway. ;-)
What great support we are getting from Omani businesses. Oman Air are flying us to Salalah free of charge. The Crowne Plaza hotels in Duqm and Salalah are housing us in their hotels free of charge. We have recruited another rider (Sean). Thank you very much to all the friends and family who have donated so far; We are nearly 50% there to build a much needed second classroom at the rainbow centre. As they say in Oman "Shukran" for the overwhelming support.
