Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you know I have walked 100km before - The Thames Path Challenge. That was just over 3 years ago. I can remember saying at the end "I'd rather give birth daily than walk 100km again" Well... somehow the memory of the pain of walking has been forgotten...kind of...so when my husbands friend, Roxy Thomas, posted she was walking the 100km Cotswold Way Challenge in memory of her sister I soon found myself doing something very silly. Now, I don't drink alcohol so I can't blame I'd had a few too many but for some reason I messaged Roxy and she welcomed me to join her and before I knew it I was registered! Then immediately I felt dread, fear but mixed with excitement! I'd signed myself up to do another 100km walk with a girl I barely know (I'm sure we will know one another VERY well by the end!) and like me, she has done The Thames Path Challenge and we are both determined to do it in under 24 hours this time round. but this time it is tougher terrain and there are hills so we really are setting ourselves a challenge *gulp!
Roxy had already signed up to raise money for PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Person Suicide, she said that I could select another charity but I didn't need to think of another - I was more than happy to raise money for her chosen charity. 1, out of respect for her and 2, because last December Jon's friend ended his life. I didn't know him well, I knew who he was, I was an old school friend of his sister so had memories of him as a young child but that was it but I can honestly say I have never in my life so far experienced sadness, sympathy and empathy to the degree I have felt with his death. I have witnessed the pain of his family and friends that hits so hard it takes your breath away. After experiencing that is was easy for me to agree to raise money for PAPYRUS.
