Catherine and I are part of the Play and Development Team on Ward E39.  We have worked together on E39 for a number of years and have met many patients and siblings throughout this time. 

Whilst undergoing treatment family life is hugely impacted.  Holidays, days out, everyday living and quality time are all disrupted.We would like to help minimise these disruptions by providing fun and exciting activities in and outside the hospital setting for patients and their siblings.

In the summer holidays the Play and Development Team provided 6 events for patients and siblings to attend.  These included interaction with animals and birds, face painting and circus skills.

We have also taken patients and siblings on various outings such as the cinema, theatre and the Nottingham  Ice Arena.

We have found these activities and events have helped to encourage socialation, confidence and a release from the hospital setting.

Catherine and I are trekking Ben Nevis to hopefully raise money to help provide regular activites and events for our patients and siblings.
