We research early diagnosis and treatments to beat pancreatic cancer.

Story

On 29th November we lost this amazing man to this vile disease.
He fought valliantly for 18 months and refusing to give up work until he had to.

Forth the way you go.
Gentle soul.
Heart of fire, heart of gold.
Sombre love, Seldom fear
Across the river we are from each other,
River made of tears.

Kev's story;
Let me introduce you to our Kev. He is one of the most selfless people I know.
Kev has a gift…. ((Well he’ll tell you he has many))..

For us we see Kev’s gift as not how special he is but how special he makes all of us feel!

We, Kev’s friends, family, work colleagues are just some of the lucky recipients of this gift. Not a single day goes by without him explicitly telling us he loves us ((OK that’s us family)). Not a single day goes without him showing us we are his priority no matter what. He is always taking care of everyone around him.

That’s why Kev’s diagnosis shocked every last one of us.

Yes he had lost lots of weight (and was feeling better for it)

Yes his diabetes has been erratic (hence the weight loss, or so we thought)

Yes he had started suffering bad acid reflux (but hey, he’s always been a windy fella)

Yes he had a pain around his middle (OK so now we thought it was time he visited the docs)

But nothing could have prepared us for that day sitting in the consultants room where we had the diagnosis.

“I am sorry Kevin but you have advanced pancreatic cancer and it is inoperable. It has also spread to your lung (but we are not too worried about that)”….

Not worried about that, it almost made us laugh out loud right there.

The consultant also told us that chemotherapy would hopefully “give him a little more time” and the biggest contradiction in terms… because he was so fit he could have aggressive chemo

I think at that point the bottom fell out of our world.

That’s about where we are right now….. Just at the start of probably the hardest journey of our lives.

This is why we are raising awareness and money for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund

Each year around 9,500 people in the UK are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It's the fifth most common cause of cancer death, causing five percent of all cancer deaths each year.

Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all cancers – just 3% of those diagnosed survive for five years. But shockingly It is also the only cancer that has seen no improvement in this figure over
the last 40 years.
