Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. And now you've done so, you're probably wondering what on earth I'm up to?
On Sunday 26 April I'll be taking in the sights of our UK Capital as I run in the world's biggest marathon.
This will be the 29th London Marathon; 26.2 miles or approximately 42 Km. That's quite a long way- even in a car.
"How do you train for such an event?", people ask me. Scientific consensus suggests an ascending regime of distance running combined with nutrition plans and careful hydration. This year I've favored a more relaxed approach featuring international business travel, fine dining, Cotes du Rhone and an occasional guilty glance at a treadmill. I'm sure I'll discover the value of applied science as I pound towards the finish line on the Mall. Doubtless the foolishness of my ways will become very apparent in the closing stages as I realise that no quantity of Lucozade sport can replace consistent training. So even if I've not moved you to sponsor my run, perhaps I could invite you to sponsor my self-inflicted agony?
This year I'm running in support of the Shaw Trust - a splendid bunch who tirelessly help those disadvantaged in the workplace due to disability, ill health or other social circumstances. I've personally worked to help develop career opportunities for people in challenging situations and I whole-heartedly support the enthusiastic work of the team at the Shaw Trust. We all know how challenging finding work can be right now and this helps to ensure no one's contribution is lost.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Shaw Trust gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. Thanks Gordon and Alistair. Lovely.
I appreciate the time you've taken to read my page. If you would like to sponsor me, I'll proudly take your donation to the finish line. Thank you. Sam
PS. If you're watching on the day, and trying to spot me, I'll be just behind Katie Price.
