Story
Hi
For those of you who dont know my story, I was diagnosed with grade 3 breast cancer in March 2011, we were told by the doctors that grade 3 is the most aggressive form of breast cancer. I was referred to the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre for my treatment. I underwent an operation within weeks to remove the tumour, which was followed by six months of gruelling chemotherapy, followed by five weeks of radiotherapy. It was a tough year- loosing my hair, feeling sick and completely drained. I've never felt so scared but I was determined to put on a brave face and not to be beaten by this cruel ,wicked disease. Throughout my treatment I decided to keep up my cycling(to keep me sane!) I cycled the 18 miles home from my appointments- by keeping fit I knew in my mind I was beating the cancer.
I want to raise as much money as possible to say a huge THANK YOU for the incredible care I received at Clatterbridge Cancer centre. The Clatterbrige Cancer Charity is the only charity raising money to directly benefit Clatterbridge cancer patients and their families. They need to raise 2.5m each year funding pioneering cancer research, buying world class equipment to treat their patients and many other life changing support services that are over and above what the NHS supply (relatives accommodation, patient counsellors...).
My challenges are
1. 2nd September- The Cheshire triathlon -400m swim, 25k cycle and 5k run
2. 16th September- Ride of the Roses- 50 mile cycle through Lancashire and Yorkshire that is being organised by the charity at Clatterbridge
3. cycling from Vietnam to Cambodia over 12 days which is approx 95k per day Ouch!
.... I've added more....!
2014 - Chester Marathon
2015 - three peaks in 24hrs
Please dig deep and help me raise as much money as possible for OUR local cancer treatment centre.
